Back when I lived in San Francisco there was this jazz club me and my colleagues would go to every Wednesday where they taught Lindy Hop to live music. I remember watching the couple teaching in absolute awe - I just couldn't wrap my head around how they could communicate so seamlessly without exchanging words. It was like a foreign language and I was obsessed with finding a way to decipher it.

So I dove VERY DEEP down the rabbit hole (thank you ADHD) of swing dancing, took a sabbatical to do it full-time at one point even. Eventually, I was teaching it myself, helping others as enchanted by this mystery language as I once was, holding their hand through those life-giving AHA! moments.

Learning to dance as an adult can be humiliating as you're exposing vulnerability in a way you probably haven't in years. Not having control of your limbs or not being able to pick up rhythm is not something everyone can laugh off.

(This would have been the perfect opportunity to share an image from my short banged dancing days but I'm VERY sad to say this was pre-smartphone era so no proof available)

And guess what - learning how to paint exposes those exact same fears. The hopeless feeling of not having control, not picking up the techniques everyone else seem to find so easy. When it comes to creative endeavors we tend to get very caught up with how people will judge us. Truth is we are our own worst judges and the world needs your creative spark, regardless of the technical level you're at in this moment.

I love teaching and I loved creating my first watercolor course. I was on a mission to help people let go of fear and find the immense joy watercolor can bring, loosing track of time in the same way you can on the dance floor. I've shed a tear every time I've received a message saying the course helped someone find just that.

I've also received many questions on whether a second course might be in the works for anyone wanting to dive a little deeper. So I started crafting a course that would contain pretty much everything I know about watercolor landscape painting. Breaking down what I've seen my students struggle with into separate practice blocks, handing over the keys that help me in my own practice.

I want to see my students fly solo, give them tools to paint their own landscapes without having to rely on someone else telling them what to do next.

The plan was to have it ready to launch a year ago but we all know Universe loves to let you know who's in control when you make plans so here we are. You might think it was all just brilliant marketing strategy in motion but I can assure you I wouldn't have been able to contain myself for that long. Apologies for making you wait. All of this to say, Diving deeper with watercolors is ready - read about it here
