- You have an impressive collection of photos in your phone but feel a bit lost when trying to translate them into the beautiful landscapes you see in your head.

- When you first learned the basics of watercolors you imagined yourself flying through more advanced landscapes but quickly realized you must be missing something.

- You’ve painted for a while, have a large number of failed paintings under your belt, and seem to always get stuck at the same place. Your paintings might just feel...meh, and you want them to sparkle!

- Your enthusiasm keeps turning into frustration, opening that box of pigments is beginning to feel so heavy - you’re tempted to give up trying completely.

Here’s the thing:

For me, the lights went on when I started deep-diving into each element of a landscape individually. I realized that as you focus on mastering each action, building trust in your own skills - the final landscape suddenly comes together effortlessly.

Let’s look at everything that goes into painting a watercolor landscape as a stepping stone. In this course, I will walk you through each individual step, from beginning to end. You’ll soon have the confidence and skills to turn any landscape into a beautiful piece of art!

Words from previous students:

What a rich immersion into the next stages of painting in watercolor. Having access to it ongoingly, being able to watch and rewatch it, is such an enormous benefit.  I loved her first course, Creating Boldly with Watercolor, and continue to revisit it 2 plus years later. And I know that Diving Deeper will invite many revisits.

Diving Deeper explored more nuanced techniques in bringing depth, richness, and layers to my watercolors. From multiple sky and cloud techniques to various tree studies, water and rock studies, watching Maria’s brush strokes, learning about leaving white space, layering, breaking down a photograph in order to translate it into a painting- this course deepened and expanded my artistry and skills.

I am so grateful to have once again journeyed with Maria in this long awaited second course, Diving Deeper. Deep thanks.

Ellen B

The knowledge you bestow on your students in a friendly and accessible way makes the course such a joy to work through. Being a newbie to art/watercolor and with no real background knowledge of the whys and wherefores it is proving to be invaluable to me. I just know inside I want to create paintings which please me and now I feel I have the tools to do just that. Composition, perspective and focal points especially have been a revelation - I couldn't be happier!

Muriel W

Although I had experience of live course sessions 10 years ago, I gradually felt stuck to postcard formats and I was always overworking my layers. I haven’t gone through the entire course yet but I already enjoy going back to the first lessons for a deeper understanding of the watercolor principles. Now I know how to create coherent atmospheres with less color, and I dare to go bigger!

Patrick C

I have been painting with watercolors for more than 10 years, but had somehow lost the joy of painting. The whole process of planning was lost and most paintings were overloaded, muddy and ended in the bin. With the specific planning and disposition of this course, I realized that watercolor demands planning and a whole palette of skills to make it vivid and interesting.

The course has excellent pedagogical planning, well written texts, informative videos on ”how to” and ”paint along” sections that lets you see, listen, read, and paint along over and over again. If you publish your attempts in the Facebook group you get feedback, good advice as well as encouragement from Maria and your fellow students!

Thanks to Maria and Diving Deeper with watercolor - I’m back on track! My lost painting skills were slowly revived and the joy of painting and peace of mind is back!
