I didn't grow up thinking I'd become a painter. My mother was the artist in the family, and for a long time that felt like her territory, not mine.
So I went a different way. Years as an art director, most recently for a children's wear brand β all clean lines, tight briefs, other people's deadlines. Good work. Just not mine.
Watercolor found me later, and it undid something. There was no brief. No client to please. Just water, pigment, and paper, doing what they wanted to do. I had to learn to let them.
Now I paint the landscapes around me here on the Swedish west coast β muted, quiet, a little unpredictable, same as the weather. And I teach the same thing I had to learn myself: that a looser hand doesn't mean less skill. It means more trust.

Of course! There will be references to watercolor painting throughout the course but each technique will be explained thoroughly.

You can dive into acrylics on a budget, adding more as you go. A few tubes of paint, 2-3 brushes (inexpensive ones from the hardware store are perfect to begin with), and a surface to paint on is all you need to start.
